Written Pattern: Coffee Mug Cozy
Use your 5.5 mm crochet hook.
Chain 13.
Row 1: Skip the first chain. Work 1 SC into each of the next 12 chains. CH 1 and turn. (12 stitches)
Rows 2–42: Work 1 SC into each stitch across. CH 1 and turn. (12 stitches per row)
Join the Ends & Make the Button Loop
Fold the cozy so the beginning and ending rows meet. Slip stitch through the first stitch of each end to join them. CH 1 and SC into the same ST and into the next ST.
Work 1 SL ST into each of the next 10 stitches along back end piece only, not through both layers.
CH 14 to make the button loop, then SL ST into the last stitch.
Fasten off and weave in the ends.
Wrap the cozy around your mug and position the button on the opposite end so the chain loop can fasten around it. Sew the button securely in place.
Optional Crochet Flower
Use your 3.5 mm crochet hook.
Make a magic ring, or CH 4 and SL ST into the first chain to form a ring.
Work 12 SC into the ring. SL ST into the first SC to join. If using a magic ring, pull the yarn tail to close the center.
For each petal:
- CH 3.
- Work 3 DC into the same stitch.
- CH 3 and SL ST into the same stitch.
- SL ST into each of the next 2 stitches.
Repeat this sequence around to make 6 petals.
Fasten off, leaving a tail for sewing. Sew the flower onto the cozy and weave in the remaining ends.
Make It Your Own
Try a bright color to cheer up your morning, a soft neutral for an everyday cozy, or a favorite color for a personalized gift. Add the flower for a decorative finish, or leave it off to let those simple stitches shine.
